Injury accident by Triangle Park

A 22-year-old man crashed into a stone post in front of Triangle Park early Wednesday morning after he lost control of his car, in an accident officials said they believe involved alcohol.

Alexander Handspike, Manhattan, was driving his 2008 Volkswagen Passat eastbound on Anderson Avenue at approximately 12:50 a.m. when he ran a red light at 14th Street, Capt. Kurt Moldrup said.

He said Handspike was driving too fast to negotiate the left hand corner of the road and drove straight into a stone post in Triangle Park.

Handspike has not been issued a citation, though Moldrup said alcohol is believed to be involved.

Riley County EMS transported Handspike to Mercy Regional Health Center for minor facial injuries.
