Indians come up short against Highland Park boys

By Grant Guggisberg

TOPEKA — The Manhattan High boys’ basketball team battled all night, but couldn’t get over the hump against Highland Park on the road Friday night, falling 54-44.

The Indians cut the lead to two in the fourth quarter at 46-44, but couldn’t get the go-ahead or tying basket despite several tries.

Highland Park, on the other hand, finally got out of its funk and ended the game on an 8-0 run to seal the win and stay undefeated in league play.

Manhattan was led by Payton Stephen’s 21 points, with Alex Stitt chipping in 12.

Manhattan hosts Hayden on Tuesday.
