If your phone is ‘spoofed,’ file a complaint with the FCC

By Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

My phone was “spoofed.”

I recently answered my phone without checking caller ID, and it was a telemarketer. I hung up my phone and checked caller ID to see who was calling me. It showed my phone number with my name.

I called my provider for an explanation as to why my number appeared. He said, “You got spoofed” and told me I needed to file a complaint with the FCC. I did.

Maybe others have received such a call and it happens to be from a telemarketer. If so, you need to file a complaint.
