Hotel is struck by armed pair

By The Mercury

Two armed men made off with an undisclosed amount of cash in an armed robbery at the Hilton Garden Inn early Saturday.

Authorities said the two men entered the hotel shortly before 5 a.m. armed with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the clerk. There were no injuries reported.

Authorities said one of the suspects was wearing a dark grey sweatshirt with a picture of a tiger on the front (possibly with a hood), dark Dickies Brand work pants and white athletic shows (possibly Air Jordans). They said the tiger emblem could possibly be “Mike the Tiger” from LSU.

They said the second suspect was wearing dark one-piece work coveralls with a light grey hoodie underneath.

Witnesses told police the top of the gun was black in color; however the bottom was chrome or silver.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle,  described as a late ‘90s to early ‘00s pearl white Cadillac DeVille with tinted windows, in the vicinity that morning. Police added, however, they were not sure whether the vehicle is related to the robbery.

Investigators requested the assistance of the public in helping to identify the suspects or vehicle. They asked anyone with information to contact the RCPD at (785) 537-2112. Individuals can also contact Crime Stoppers at 539-7777 or (800) 222-TIPS (8477); or send a web tip at
