In the first round of the 37th annual Hiawatha Girls Invitational, Rock Creek faced second-seeded Horton and kept the game within arm’s reach in the first half, trailing by seven at the break. The Mustangs trailed by six heading into the fourth quarter, but was outscored 19-12 in the final quarter to fall into the consolation side of the bracket.

Jacy Johnston led Rock Creek (1-10, 1-5 Mid-East) with 10 points. The Mustangs face sixth-seeded Jackson Heights in the consolation semifinals on Thursday at 5 p.m.
