Home invasion suspect arrested

Levertis Horne, 21, 502 Osage St., was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for aggravated robbery and aggravated battery in connection with an October home invasion. He remains confined on a $25,000 bond.

Riley County Police Department received a 911 call reporting a home invasion at Chase Manhattan Apartments, 1401 Chase Place, at about 11:45 p.m. Oct. 5.

Chase Cargile, 20, was shot in his upper torso during the incident at his apartment. Cargile and other KSU students were robbed in the incident.

Witnesses reported that a suspect wearing a black mask and hooded sweatshirt fled the area.

Horne was notable arrested and released in August 2011 after RCPD dropped the charge of aiding in second degree murder of in the beating death of Kevin Cockrum, a 31-year-old Army veteran, in Aggieville due to lack of evidence.

Justin Taylor, 25, who was arrested with Horne, was sentenced to 59 months for the voluntary manslaughter of Cockrum after pleading no contest in addition to 155 months for the 2010 rape of a 57-year-old Manhattan woman.
