WAMEGO – Three persons were injured last Friday night in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Salzer Rd and US Highway 24, about one mile west of Wamego.

Transported by ambulance to Wamego Health Center were Rita Malin, Jack Malin and Rechelle Malin, passengers in a 2014 Toyota Camry driven by Ethan Michael Malin, 16, rural Wamego, according to a report from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department. Extent of the injuries was unknown.

According to the report, Malin was eastbound on U.S. 24, and hit a 2004 Buick LeSabre driven by Delores Ann Holz, 78, St. Marys.

Holz had been westbound on U.S. 24, turned south into the crossover and proceeded across the eastbound lanes of the highway.

The impact of the crash sent Holz’s vehicle into a 2000 GMC Yukon driven by Lois Clara Bartley, Wamego, and stopped on Salzer Rd. on the south side of the highway. The impact forced Bartley’s vehicle into the ditch.

There was extensive damage to both the Malin and Holz vehicles and damage to the front end of the Bartley vehicle, according to the report.
