Hazel (Keen) Roberts, 91, died Tuesday at the Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan.
The family provided some of the following information.
She was born on Aug. 17, 1922, in Fostoria, the daughter of Otis Ellsworth and Grace Thurza (Nelson) Keen. Hazel graduated from Fostoria High School in 1941.
On March 14, 1941, in Hiawatha, she was united in marriage to Theodore “Ted” Roberts. This union was blessed with four children: Larry, Sharon, Linda and Mary.
Hazel was a bookkeeper, school bus driver and, most of all, a loving farmwife and homemaker. She enjoyed doing family genealogy research and organizing photo albums to share. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Larry Roberts and his wife, Virginia, of St. George, Sharon Boos and her husband, Bill, of Spring Valley, Calif., Linda Peters and her husband, Larry, of Leonardville, and Mary Girard and her husband, Bill, of Manhattan; one sister, Donna Marney and her husband, Ralph, of Topeka; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore “Ted” Roberts on July 13, 2003; and four siblings: George, Stella, Elmer and Darrell.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, with Rev. Kevin Larson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
