Harold Nibarger

Harold Eugene Nibarger, 83, of Manhattan, died Sunday at the Robert Dole VAMC Hospice Unit in Wichita.

He was born on Oct. 14, 1929, in Virgil. He was the son of Wayne and Elva (Cunningham) Nibarger.  He was married to Ernestine Dehlinger on Nov. 26, 1952, in Wichita.  She preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 2009.

Harold was a teacher at Thayer and Madison schools and a principal at Morrowville - North Central High School and Blue Valley Randolph schools.  He retired in 1988.  He was a member of the NEA, American Legion, Mason Lodge and the Methodist Church.  He also served in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by a son, Richard Nibarger and wife Michelle of Towanda; a daughter, Nancy Galloway of Castro Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Andie and Jessie Nibarger of Towanda and Tyler and Bailey Galloway of Castro Valley, Calif. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Nibarger; one brother, Don Nibarger; and one sister Gladys McKee.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, with the Rev. David Gibbs officiating.  A private family burial will be at a later date in the Virgil Cemetery in Virgil.
