GTM to open high-tech addition

The CivicPlus groundbreaking was one of two notable business-related developments here/On Thursday morning, officials of GTM announced that they will unveil a new “sublimation center” Jan. 29.

Gov. Sam Brownback is expected to take part in that event.

The event, to be held at GTM’s facility at 520 McCall Road, is described as the first of its kind in the Midwest. Company officials said advanced dye sublimation technology used in the facility will allow custom designs to be heat-infused directly into fabric, opening up what they said would be “endless design capabilities.”

They added that the facility’s opening and other initiatives,

to be announced at the event will result in “substantial job growth in

the state of Kansas and the Manhattan and surrounding communities,” although the size of the facility and number of jobs to be created was not made public.
