Genealogical updates help people in family searches

By Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

The Riley County Genealogical Society has recently digitized its library card catalog. If you are interested in researching your family history, we have a wealth of resources for you. All our information is now searchable online on our newly-updated website at http://www.rileycgs.com.

The genealogy society offers you:

• Personal help from a librarian and computer assistant during library hours;

• Access to Ancestry.com at the library;

• Online card catalog (on our website);

• Our Kansas collection, which has family information from every county;

• Resources from many other states;

• More than 700,000 surnames from obituaries, newspapers and periodicals that are searchable online. See if you can find your ancestor!

• Personalized genealogical research available through our website.

The Riley County Genealogical Society has been free and open to the public for more than 50 years. We are in the beautiful, historic Platt House at 2005 Claflin Road in Manhattan. Library Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Wednesday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. I’d like to thank the all-volunteer staff who have made these materials available to you and are dedicated to helping you find your ancestors. Visit us at the library or online anytime!
