Gabriel Richard Rayas, 71, Salina, died July 31, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born March 24, 1943, in Kendall, the son of Jess and Dolores (Coronado) Rayas.

Gabe was an army veteran serving from 1964 to 1966.

He worked in the optical profession for 45 years working for Duffens Optical & HOYA Vision Care.

He is survived by his wife, Cheri, of the home; and his children, Leo Rayas and Melody Rayas, both of Salina.

He has three sisters, Mary (Troy) Stovall, Tommie (Dale) Towns and Jennie Valenzuela, all of Garden City.

His grandchildren are Christopher, Casey, Taylor, Skylar and Kaylen.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the First Baptist Church, Salina.

Burial will be in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Friends may call at the Ryan Mortuary from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday evening where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Salina.
