Frederick G. “Fred” Daniels, 63, of Wamego died Friday at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.

The family provided some of the following information.

He was born August 3, 1950, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He was the son of Frederick and Ruth (Goss) Daniels.

He served for three years in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and was discharged as a specialist 4.

Fred worked for Steel & Pipe for 11 years as a saw operator, as a appliance repairmen for Ken’s Appliance, and for A Green Coin Laundromats prior to working the past 17 years in maintenance at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group.

Fred was a member and enjoyed playing golf at Wildcat Creek. He also enjoyed reading, playing poker, traveling and camping, hunting when his health would allow and target shooting.

He was married to Sharon D. Crain on Feb. 28, 1970, at Fort Riley.  Sharon survives of the home. 

Additional survivors include two sons, Frank Daniels and wife Randi of Harlan, Iowa, and Wilse Daniels and wife Bambi of Beloit; five siblings, Betty Winsey of Florida, Sue Rooney of Mahoney, Pa., Virginia Weigner of Norristown, Pa., Bill Pastino of Bridgeport, Pa., and Connie Brancl of Royersford, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.

Cremation is planned with private family services.
