Frank Eugene Grippy, 77, of Dallas, Texas, died Monday.

He was born Dec. 25, 1953 in Emporia.

He graduated from Manhattan High School in 1953. He attended Kansas State University and graduated in 1958. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and the Rotary Club of Dallas.

He spent four years in the Army and Army reserves after graduation, living in Maryland and Washington State.

He spent his early career in the grocery store business, even opening his own store, Mr. G’s Minimax, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He then moved on to working for AAFES as a buyer. He lived in South Carolina, Vietnam, Hawaii, Texas, and Japan and finally retired from AAFES in Dallas, Texas. After retirement, he opened an antique business and lived for a short time in Lindsborg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Pearl Grippy; his brother, Wilmer Grippy; and sister, Louise Irene (Grippy) Meek Lewis.

He is survived by his daughter Diane Connaughton of Seabrook, Texas; his son David Grippy of Independence, Mo.; his brothers, James Grippy of Los Angeles and Robert Grippy of Montrose, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

His funeral will be Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home 7405 W Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
