IRVING, Texas — Kansas State women’s basketball placed four student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 team in an announcement by the Big 12 Conference on Tuesday. Three of K-State’s honorees received a first-team citation, while one was chosen for the second team.
Since the beginning of the Big 12 in 1996-97, K-State has earned a league-best 94 Academic All-Big 12 honors.
Wildcats to earn the Academic All-Big 12 first team honor were seniors JuliAnne Chisholm (life sciences/pre-med) and Emma Ostermann (kinesiology) and junior Brittany Chambers (life sciences/pre-med).
Chisholm tallied her fourth career academic honor from the Big 12 and her second in women’s basketball, as she was a two-time recipient in volleyball. Chambers received her second career first-team honor, while Ostermann earned her first career citation.
Earning second-team honors for the first time in her career were senior Jalana Childs (hotel and restaurant management). .
The Wildcats travel to Norman, Okla., tonight to face Oklahoma. They return home Saturday to play Texas at 6 p.m. Saturday’s game will mark K-State’s participation in the national “Play 4Kay” initiative. The first 4,000 fans will receive a free pink t-shirt.
