Foster earns national honor

Kansas State freshman Marcus Foster was named the Wayman Tisdale National Freshman of the Week on Tuesday following his 34-point performance against Texas this past Saturday.

It’s the second time this season Foster has earned the national honor. The guard is the fifth Big 12 freshman to earn the weekly national honor this season, including the fifth in the last six weeks.

Named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for the second time on Monday, Foster scored a season-high 34 points in the 74-57 win over the Longhorns, as he connected on 13 of 16 field goals, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range. The 13 field goals and the five 3-pointers were both season highs.

Foster collected his fourth 20-point game in five games on Monday night in helping the Wildcats to an 85-82 overtime win over No. 7 Kansas at Bramlage Coliseum. He scored a game-high 20 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 4 of 5 from behind the arc. His effort against KU did not count towards this week’s award.
