A 12-year-old boy drowned in a Topeka hotel pool May 10.

The boy was identified as Dalton Register of Fort Riley, according to police.

The Topeka Capitol Journal reported Register was unresponsive after being pulled from an indoor swimming pool shortly after 7:30 p.m. that Friday at Ramada West, 605 Fairlawn Road.

Authorities said others in the area did not immediately notice Register was in distress. Resuscitation measures were started immediately after he was pulled out of the pool, and was also taken to a local hospital by American Medical Response.

Police did not specify when Register was pronounced dead and additional details weren’t available.
