Three former K-State men’s golfers — Aaron Watkins, Robert Streb and Joe Ida — all made the cut and shot under par through four rounds at the Nationwide Tour’s Midwest Classic over the weekend at the Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in Overland Park.

Watkins, who lettered at K-State from 2001-04, finished in a tie for 46th at 11-under-par 273. He shot bogey-free rounds of 3-under-par 68 and 2-under-par 69 to make the cut before 18-hole scores of 4-under-par 67 and 2-under-par 69 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Watkins is now 38th on the Nationwide Tour money list at $92,190.

Streb also tied for 46th place as, after shooting even par 71 on Thursday, he carded a 5-under-par 66 on Friday before back-to-back rounds of 3-under-par 68 on Saturday and Sunday. Streb was a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats from 2006-09.

By tying for 46th, both Watkins and Streb took home $1,996.50 of the $500,000 purse from the tournament.

Ida tied for 72nd at 6-under-par 278. After making the cut with a 2-under-par 69 on Thursday and a 3-under-par 68 on Saturday, the four-year K-State letterwinner from 2007-10 finished out the event by carding rounds of 2-under-par 69 on Saturday and 1-over-par 72 on Sunday. Ida, who earned a sponsor’s exemption into the field, won $1,265.
