Thanks to a final-round score of 71 Thursday, former Kansas State women’s golfer Gianna Misenhelter carded a three-round score of 219 to capture the Kansas Women’s Amateur Championship at Colbert Hills Golf Course.
Misenhelter, who was a senior during the 2013-14 season, began the tournament with a 73 on Tuesday and carded a 75 Wednesday before bouncing back in the final round. She finished six shots better than second-place Mackenzie Thayer.
A product of Overland Park, Misenhelter is a two-time winner of the Kansas Women’s Amateur, as she won the event in 2011. The victory continues her successful summer as she finished second at the Missouri Women’s Amateur, July 8-10.
Incoming K-State freshman Chandler Gallagher finished seventh in the championship flight at 235 (81-76-78), while sophomore Anne Willman tied for 12th in the championship flight at 246 (81-84-81).
