Former Wildcat earns U.S. Open berth

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former Kansas State golfer Aaron Watkins became the first Wildcat since 1987 to earn a spot in the U.S. Open.

Watson tied for second place in sectional qualifying this week at the Germantown Country Club.

Watkins fired a first-round score of 68 and followed that up with a 66 in round two to move on to one of the most prestigious events in professional golf.
