Floersches epitomize good local ownership, service

By Letters to the Editor

To the Editor: We hear frequent chatter about bringing jobs to Manhattan and keeping the profits local. I believe in this with a passion, and I would like to applaud two brothers who I would like to see celebrated and supported by our city. The Floersch brothers of Ray’s Apple Markets are the best examples of what’s right with Kansas.

I had the unique opportunity to encounter them almost every day for 25 years on my UPS route to Clay Center. Their employees loved them. The brothers loved their work. And, I might say, they have had some degree of success because of all of this.

I have a tendency to be very critical of many people and situations, but can only find praise for these folks and their business. Keep it local and support this business however you can. They are truly good people serving our community. We all complain about those who give us poor service, and I am the first to do so, but not in this case.
