Fire destroys city garage

The city of Manhattan reported that a fire caused $31,300 property damage at 5166 Wildcat Creek Road sometime between 11:58 a.m. and 5:34 p.m. June 17. Lt. Josh Kyle said only an information report was filed because criminal activity cannot be substantiated at the moment.

The city lost a garage worth $10,000 at the location. Kyle said Brian Johnson, 40, a city employee, had a number of things in the garage that were destroyed as well. Johnson lost a 1996 Crownline Boat worth $12,000 and a 2000 Coleman Bayside Elite camper worth $2,000. Various tools and a go-cart were also destroyed. Kyle said a garage on an adjacent property was also damaged.
