Riley County officers were called to Woodrow Wilson Elementary School after school hours on Thursday after it was reported that a male, who looked to be in his teens, appeared to be carrying a rifle on school grounds, though the object was later found to be a toy gun.
As a precaution, Lt. Josh Kyle said, the school, 312 N. Juliette Ave., was placed under lockdown at approximately 4:10 p.m., until officers could make contact with the male.
Kyle said the male turned out to be a 13-year-old boy with a toy gun. He said there were no children outside at the time of the report.
Officers filed an information report, but determined no crime had occurred.
