Falcons take second

The Riley County High School volleyball team took second place at its own invitational Saturday, losing in the championship game to Mission Valley 25-12, 25-13.

The Falcons went 2-1 in pool play, beating Chapman (25-17, 25-19) and Linn (25-14, 25-14), but losing to Mission Valley (25-19, 25-18).

Riley County beat St. Mary’s 25-21, 25-21 in the quarterfinals before defeating Valley Heights in three sets, 25-17, 13-25, 25-23 to reach the championship.

Valley Heights took fourth place with a loss to Clay Center in the third-place game. The Mustangs went 3-0 in pool B, beating Clay Center in three sets, 25-20, 21-25, 25-23. They also had wins against Clifton Clyde (25-19, 25-18) and St. Mary’s (25-14, 25-21).
