The Fairy Godmothers of Manhattan want to publicly thank the 80-plus golfers who participated in the seventh annual Fairy Godmothers Charity Golf Tournament and the numerous sponsors who helped make the Sept. 30 tournament possible.

We owe special thanks to Community 1st Bank for being the title sponsor this year, and we are truly grateful to the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation staff for its administrative support.

This year’s contributions exceeded our expectations, and totaled more than $26,000. These proceeds will continue to support the efforts of the Fairy Godmothers Fund, which provides assistance to women in need throughout the Manhattan community.

The primary Fairy God-mothers Fund is an endowed fund. We are committed to increasing the principal and using earnings from the fund for grants to meet immediate and critical needs of local women that are not being met by traditional funding sources. During the first three quarters of 2013, 62 grants were given totaling $23,508.93, an average of about $380 per grant.

The combined efforts of so many make Manhattan a better, stronger and more caring community.
