Ex-KSU signee Treece to play at Oklahoma

By Joshua Kinder

McKenna Treece, who was recently released from her letter of intent with the Kansas State women’s basketball team, has committed to play at Oklahoma.

The 6-foot-3 three-star forward was one of three early signees for the former K-State women’s coaching staff — joining Salina’s Shaelyn Martin and Overland Park’s Lauren Mertz.

From St. Peters, Mo., Treece played for Incarnate Word Academy in St. Louis where she earned first-team all-conference honors.

Treece asked for her release immediately following the dismissal of head coach Deb Patterson and her staff.

It’s also worth noting that Olathe South’s Kylee Kopatich recently announced that she has switched her verbal commitment from K-State to the Kansas Jayhawks.

Kopatich, a 5-foot-10 junior point guard in the 2015 class, was the Sunflower League MVP this past season, averaging 12.2 points, 6.3 assists and 3.1 steals a game.
