Eve Loleetta Grace Gettys, 63, of Manhattan died Sunday, Dec.29, 2013, at her home, with her family and friends at her bedside.

The family provided some of the following information.

She was born in Charleston, W. Va., and at age 1 moved to Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Central High School in Columbus at age 19. 

She moved to Florida in 1974, where she met her husband Stanley W. Gettys Sr. They were married in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Oct. 16, 1976. She was a housewife to the soldier and raised three children.

After the family moved to Manhattan in 1992, Eve did a lot of volunteer work over the years with groups including the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, ATA, City of Manhattan and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Eve is survived by her husband Stanley, who is retired military; her mother, Edna Hooks of Junction City; her sister, Trena L. Hooks of Manhattan; her son Stanley W. Gettys Jr. of Concord, N.C.; and her daughter, Dolly L. Mainville and her husband Nicholas R. Mainville and their son, Jaxson S. Mainville of St. George.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Hooks, and guardian son, Adam T. Hooks.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gettys will be 10 a.m. on Saturday at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2812 Marlatt Ave., in Manhattan. The grave dedication will follow the service in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.
