Enjoy holiday pancakes and help us help local youth

To the Editor:

The Solar Kiwanis Club of Manhattan has held a Fourth of July Pancake Feed in conjunction with Thunder Over Manhattan and its predecessors for the past 15 years.

Unfortunately, there will be no thunder Over Manhattan fire-works show this year, but our club is continuing its tradition of holding our annual pancake breakfast on the morning of July 4 — Friday — at Pottorf Hall in the Riley County Fairgrounds.

Our club emphasizes youth organizations as groups to sup-port. The groups we support include the Boys and Girls Club, Head Start, Royal Kids Camp, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Flint Hills Breadbasket’s back-pack program. We also assist Key Clubs at Manhattan and Riley County high schools and a Builders Club at Riley County Junior High.

We encourage those of you who are looking for a chance to go out for breakfast on a holiday to come out Friday morning from 7:30 to 11 and help us help the youth of the Manhattan community.
