Enjoy concert and support Peace Memorial Auditorium

By Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

On Wednesday, Dec. 11, the music fraternity of Phi MU Alpha Sinfonia from Kansas State University will put on a musical program on the stage in Peace Memorial Auditorium at City Hall. It will begin at 7:30 pm.

One object of the fraternity is the advancement of music in America, and these students want to donate their time and their talent to provide a community service and help restore Peace Memorial Auditorium to its original grandeur.

This is the beginning of the fundraising effort to help pay for the restoration, which will include a sound system, lighting and a plaque for the “101 Forgotten Boys” from Riley County who gave their lives in World War II.

Everyone is invited. There is no charge, but donations are tax-deductible and will be gracious-ly accepted at the door. Donations also can be mailed to Manhattan/Riley County Preser-vation Alliance, PO Box 1893, Manhattan, KS 66505.
