Elaine Baxter, 84, of Manhattan, died Monday, July 21, 2014,  at Mercy Regional Health Center.

The family provided the following information.

Elaine was born in Manhattan, on Feb. 19, 1930, the daughter of the late Thomas D. and Ethel F. (Whitmer) Hannagan.  She attended Manhattan schools and graduated from Manhattan High School.  Sixty-five years ago, on April 10, 1949, Elaine was united in marriage to Charles “Red” Baxter.  Elaine was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Manhattan.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Steve and wife Susie (Woodward) Baxter of Manhattan; three granddaughters: Jessa (Scott) Voos, Kassie (Todd) Jobgen, Elizabeth (Max) Shilof; great-grandchildren: Indie and Crew Voos, Beckham Abbott, Rhianna, Andre, and Kimber Shilof. 

Elaine was proceeded in death by their eldest son Bruce Baxter.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation, 1317 W. Poyntz Ave. with Rev. Melanie Martin officiating.  A private family inurnment will be held at Sunrise Cemetery following the service.

The family requests donations to be made to the First United Methodist Church, 612 Poyntz, Manhattan.
