Eisenhower MS edges Anthony

Eisenhower Middle School beat Anthony Middle School 38-31 Tuesday night to repeat as the Little Apple boys’ basketball champion in a game played at Eisenhower.

Eisenhower led by three at halftime, but Anthony cut the lead to one heading into the fourth quarter. The Eagles won the fourth quarter, however, 17-11 to win.

Eisenhower’s Chase Dillon scored 19 points to lead all scorers, with Kenny Cecil adding 11 and Carson Marsh scoring five.

Anthony was led by Nate Awbrey’s 16 points, with C.J. Lowery scoring seven and Cooper Schroeder scoring six.

In the other games played on Tuesday, Anthony defeated Eisenhower in the 8B game, as well as the 7A and 7B games.

Both schools are back in action on Thursday in the first round of the Centennial Middle League tournament. In the 8th grade first round, Eisenhower will host Topeka Seaman, while Anthony will host Washburn Rural.

Both games begin at 3:30 p.m. at the school gyms. In the seventh grade first round, Eisenhower will travel to Washburn Rural and Anthony will be at Emporia.
