Duo arrested for theft

Riley County officers arrested two people Wednesday in connection with a stolen car out of Topeka, after an officer reportedly spotted the car in Manhattan.

Officer Matthew Droge said Megan Heinsohn, 22, 509 Moro St., and Russell Allen Jr., 31, 3134 Lundin Drive, Apt. 11, were arrested after police on bike patrol spotted what they believed was a stolen 2005 Chevrolet Impala parked in the 1500 block of Colorado Street at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Droge said the car was stolen in Topeka.

The officers made contact with Heinsohn and Allen while investigating the vehicle, believed to be worth about $5,000.

Both were arrested for felony theft.

Heinsohn was additionally charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is confined to the Riley County Jail on $5,000 bond.

Allen Jr. is confined on $3,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation.
