DUI patrol on Friday night

By Katherine Wartell

The Riley County Police Department announced that officers will be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol Friday.

Officials said that motorists who show signs of alcohol or drug consumption will be evaluated and the appropriate enforcement action will take place.

Lt. Mark French said the purpose of the patrol is to place additional officers in and around the Manhattan area with the goal of detecting and deterring impaired driving.

It is the second in a series of five that will be conducted this year.

Funding for the patrol is provided by the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Project.
