Drug sweep nabs 17

Seventeen persons, most of them from Manhattan, were arrested Friday afternoon in what appeared to have been a significant and ongoing drug sweep here.

Authorities said in a statement issued Friday evening that additional arrests are expected in what they described as “ongoing investigations into area crime, to include the distribution of illegal narcotics.”

The charges included distribution of methamphetamine, possession of various illegal drugs and child endangerment.

The most numerous and serious of the charges were filed against a man identified as Marvin E. Berroth II, 47, of 818 Smith Street. He was charged with distribution of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of psilocybin mushrooms, possession of felony drug paraphernalia, possession of misdemeanor drug paraphernalia, and criminal possession of a firearm.  Bond was set at $10,000 on the distribution charge and $25,000 on the other charges. 

Also charged were:

*Jacob A. Norman, 26, of 813 Greenfield Cir., for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond $2,500.

*Denaal L. Thompson, 517 S. 15th Street Apt #3, for distribution of methamphetamine and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.  Bond $10,000.

*David W. Bonney, 28, 2500 Farm Bureau Road Lot #265, for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.  Bond $5,000.

*Gregory B. Kloppe, 28, 2500 Farm Bureau Road Lot #265, for possession of a controlled substance.  Bond $2,000.

*Tracy L. Koontz, 23, 2500 Farm Bureau Road Lot #265, for possession of controlled substance.  Bond $2,000.

*James L. Ellis, 23 years old, 1741 Kings Road, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond $2,000.

*Currin M. Ayer, 25,  2500 Farm Bureau Road Lot #26, for endangering a child.  Bond $1,000.

*Deborah S. Bedard, 49, 1306 Roever Road, for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond $2,500. 

*Ashley D. Brandon, 31, Riley, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond $3,000.

*Jason M. Hicks, 31, 615 N. Juliette Apt #2, for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug Paraphernalia.  Bond $2,500.

*Betsy L. Fox, 39, 2700 Tabor Valley Road, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond $3,000.

*Melissa M. Tisdale, 30, 3157 Chicago Avenue, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond $3,000.

*Jesse J. Fox, 24, 405 Redwood Place #3, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond $3,000.

*Delores K. Mulanax, 54, 405 Redwood Place #3, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond $1,500.

*Regann K. Steinhauer, 21 years old, Topeka, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond $3,000.

*Eric J. Tucker, 27, Junction City, for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, distribution of methamphetamine, and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.  Bond $10,000.

Officers said that during the sweep a total of eight children were taken into police protective custody and later placed with juvenile intake.
