Riley County officers are investigating an early-morning car crash Sunday morning that sent one Manhattan driver to the hospital.

The accident occurred in the 1900 block of College Heights Avenue at approximately 3:23 a.m., Lt. Josh Kyle said, when Randy Rudolph, 20, crashed his 2005 Toyota Camry into a Westar Energy utility pole.

Kyle said Rudolph had been driving eastbound on College Heights Avenue, when his car veered left and struck the pole.

Riley County EMS transported Rudolph to Mercy Regional Health Center for a head injury.

Kyle said alcohol is being investigated as a possible contributing factor, as well as inattentive driving and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Rudolph was reportedly the only occupant in the car.
