A Leonardville man involved in the October accident that killed a Blue Valley High senior was arrested Friday for involuntary manslaughter.

Garrett Smith Olson, 20, was arrested by the Riley County Police Department for involuntary manslaughter and failure to stop at an injury accident.

Olson was the driver in a single-vehicle accident that led to the death of Trevor Redding, 17.

The accident occurred two miles northeast of Leonardville.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 19, Olson — who was 19 at the time — was driving a 1990 Honda Accord traveling eastbound at the 11000 block of LK and W Road, when the vehicle went into a skid, entered the north ditch and struck a rock wall.

The vehicle then overturned, ejecting Redding, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Olson was released on $10,000 bond.
