Drake sentenced to 260 months

By Katherine Wartell

Cole Drake, the 16-year-old convicted of killing Manhattan High School classmate Tyler Dowling in April 2011, was sentenced to 260 months in prison in Riley County District Court Monday.

In September, Drake pleaded no contest to the amended charges of intentional second degree murder, aggravated robbery and six counts of vehicular burglary, after signing a plea agreement through his lawyers Larry McRell and Brenda Jordan.

He was originally charged with pre-meditated first degree murder.

District Judge David Stutzman sentenced Drake to 165 months for the murder, 59 months for the aggravated robbery and 6 months each for the six counts of vehicular burglary.
