Double Play stays busy

At this point in the season, the Manhattan Optimist 10-and-under Double Play has competed in three tournaments. 

The April tournament was in Council Grove and the team placed third. Jessa Kulp was named the tournament MVP by the coaching staff. 

The second tournament was at Twin Oaks in Manhattan where the Double Play finished 2-2. Paige Fowler, Kulp and Elise Funk were MVPs for each game, respectively.  Funk was the Double Play’s tournament MVP. 

The most recent tournament was the “Take a Bite Outta the Lil Apple” this past weekend in Manhattan.  The Double Play left pool play with a 1-1-1 record.  Bracket play was cancelled Sunday due to rain. 

Claire Broxterman was the Double Play’s MVP.

The Double Play will wrap up the season with the final two tourneys in Topeka — First, the state tournament this weekend and the Shawnee County Slugfest the weekend of June 28.
