Donald Kenneth Dubois, 93, of Lenexa, died Sunday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13615 W. 92nd in Lenexa.  Rosary and eulogy will be at 4:45 p.m. Thursday followed by visitation until 7 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia in Lenexa.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Diabetes Association, or National Parkinson Foundation.

Don was born July 25, 1920, in Burlingame.  He graduated from Burlingame High School and received his BACHELOR’S DEGREE in Milling Industry from Kansas State College, now University.

Don had a distinguished career in the milling and baking technology sciences, spanning over fifty years, including 21 years at the American Institute of Baking. His special foreign assignments for the AIB took him to 21 foreign countries including China and USSR. He authored more than 50 technical papers, served or chaired multiple committees and held high offices in trade organizations. He received the American Association of Cereal Chemists’ William Geddes Award in 2003 and American Society of Baking’s Robert Fischer Award in 2004.

Don married Florine Haigh on July 15, 1946.  Together, they raised eight sons and four daughters. Don was a devoted husband and father engaging in his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He was an expert marble collector and the family’s historian and genealogist. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, American Association of Cereal Chemists, American Society of Baking, Marble Collectors Society of America, Osage County Kansas Historical Society, Knights of Columbus and the Dubois Family Association.

Don was preceded in death by his wife Florine Haigh Dubois; two sons, James and Mark; two brothers, Robert and Lyle.  He is survived by his children,  Donna (Doug) Rees of Harbor Beach, Mich., Norman (Jan) Dubois of Olathe, Martin (Twyla) Dubois of Lawrence, Jean (Doug) Goodman of Lenexa, Mary Sue (Steve) Strickland of Flower Mound, Texas, John (Jennifer Byer) Dubois of Prairie Village, Robert (Jane) Dubois of Overland Park, Paul (Amy) Dubois of Matthews, Va.; Margaret (Mark) DeVoss of Springfield, Mo., David (Beth) Dubois of New Lenox, Ill.; two daughters-in-law Marianne Dubois of Kansas City, Mo., and Jean Dubois of Auburn, Ala.; 34 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
