Disrespect for game hurts decent hunters, fishermen

By Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

My wife and I were walking Tuesday morning, October 29, along College Avenue about a half-mile north of the football stadium. In the ditch on the east side of the road, a few yards north of the concrete bridge, someone had dumped what appeared to be six gadwall ducks and three green wing teal ducks. This summer we also found five very nice channel cats, probably 3 pounds each or more, discarded in almost the identical location.

These acts of laziness and disrespect for the resource are also illegal and give decent hunters and fisherman a bad name. Every hunter who qualifies for a hunting license is made aware of the wanton waste law. If you are not familiar with the wanton waste law, please check into it.

If you have time to hunt and fish, but don’t have time to clean and properly care for the game, try giving it to someone who will care for it properly instead of dumping it in the ditch.
