Discovery Center’s opening day to be filled with family activities

The grand opening for the Flint Hills Discovery Center is set for April 14, with the ribbon cutting at 10 a.m.

The Flint Hills Discovery Center will be open to the public between 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

ESB Financial and Kasasa will commemorate the event with a family-fun event with free admission to the public on opening day.

The family-fun event will include a scavenger hunt that covers three floors of the facility. There will also be educational games and prizes for the kids who participate. Governor Sam Brownback, the Kaw Nation, Manhattan Mayor Jim Sherow and other state dignitaries will also be in attendance.

The Discovery Center is 10,000 square feet of interactive exhibits and will display the ecology, biology and cultural history of the local region.
