The Flint Hills Discovery Center will have free demonstrations of art creation this week in its atrium.
The “Meet the Makers” series, which starts Monday and ends Friday, will give community members a firsthand look at how different works of art are formed and introduce them to the local faces behind the pieces.
The live demonstrations will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day of the series. It will include jewelry making, glass painting, woodturning and henna body art, among others.
The demonstrations are free, but those wishing to explore the exhibits are required to pay a general admission fee.
The following artists will provide demonstrations during these days:
¦ Monday — Cher Heller Olson: Landscape oil paintings; Ann Warren: Live demonstrations of Henna body art on a canvas and on guests
¦ Tuesday — Laura Mead: Demonstrations of polymer clay jewelry; Susan Rose: Live painting
¦ Wednesday — MAC Watercolors
Studio: Live watercolor painting; Judy Willingham: Handmade jewelry making from Prairiefire Gems Jewelry ¦ Thursday — Flint Hills Woodturners: Live woodturning demonstrations; Kendra Jennings: Live pottery making
¦ Friday — Shirley York: Glass and bottle paintings; Devi Wilbur: Live charcoal sketching, pen and ink drawing
