Competing at the Washburn Rural invitational at the Wamego Country Club, the Manhattan High boys’ golf team tied for fifth place in the team standings on Thursday, but got a solid performance from Cole Dillon, who took medalist honors with a 1-over 71.
Facing a tough field, the Indians finished behind Rural (304), St. James Academy (314) and St. Thomas Aquinas (315), while tying with Mill Valley with both teams shooting a 316.
Dillon was the only individual medalist for the Indians, with David Woods finishing just outside the top 10 with a 78. Drew Casper shot an 82, Scott Woods an 85 and Pierson McAtee with an 85 to round out the team’s scores.
The Indians host the Manhattan Invitational on Monday at the Manhattan Country Club, starting at 2 p.m.
