The Manhattan Fire Department has released more information about Saturday’s fire at 1204 Bluemont Ave.
Crews responded to the fire at around 11:19 a.m. and the last crews left the scene at around 2:55 p.m.
Westbound traffic on Bluemont Avenue was closed for a short period while firefighters were on the scene.
A report from the department said that five people reside in the home, but only two were home at the time of the fire. They were alerted to the fire by someone knocking on the door – and both left the house without injury.
The owner of the home is listed as Larry Ness of Manhattan.
Damage was estimated at $20,000 to the structure and $1,000 to the contents.
The cause of the fire was determined to be discarded smoking materials.
