Despite the rhetoric, is our country being led into ruin?

To the Editor:
According to C.S. Lewis, the sins of the spirit are worse than the sins of the flesh. The reason he gives for this is that if you commit the sins of the flesh, you know you are a sinner and in need of forgiveness, but if you commit the sins of the spirit, you not only think you are a good person, you feel that you are doing just what God wants you to do and are therefore better than other people.
