Dan Lindsey-Shelton, 46, of Manhattan, died Friday at his residence.
The family provided some of the following information.
He was born on Dec. 10, 1966, in Manhattan. He was the son of Donald Roy and Donna Faye (Mayer) Shelton. Dan attended Riley schools until his sophomore year when the family moved to Manhattan in 1983. He graduated from Manhattan Senior High School in 1985.
Dan was a concrete construction worker, where he was a concrete finisher. He worked for a variety of companies during his working career.
His hobbies included collecting Indian arrowheads and Indian artifacts. He also loved to hunt, fish and be outdoors. He also was an avid chess player and gifted artist in sketching and drawing. He also enjoyed reading. Most of all, he loved his two children.
He is survived by his children, Miles Dain Shelton of Manhattan and Molly Faye Shelton of Plattsburg, Mo. He is also survived by his siblings, Don Mike Shelton and Penny Alonso, both of Manhattan, Marc Lindsey and his wife Rachelle of Paris, Mich., and Christine Murray and her husband Tom of Salina. Dan is also survived by his step-mother, Mary Shelton of Manhattan; by his former wife of 18 years, Marla L. Bosworth of Plattsburg, Mo.; and by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his step-father, Douglas Lindsey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating. Private burial will be in the Westmoreland Cemetery.
