By Katherine Wartell

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating damage to the property of a Valley Center Pivot in a corn field west of 7680 Junietta Road, or near the intersection of Blue River Road and Junietta Road sometime between May 18 and 20.

Sheriff Greg Riat said the suspect or suspects appear to have used a ton dually type pickup or small truck pushed against the wheel of the center pivot, which damaged the irrigation system.

He said the suspect also drove through the corn, spinning tires and damaging the field.

A pair of white suspenders and a can of Bud Light beer were found at the scene, as well as tire tracks that appear to be a from dually type pickup.

Loss to crops and damage to the pivot is estimated at $3,700.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office at 785-457-3353.
