Damage reported in teen DUI incident

Riley County officers have assessed the damage caused by a Manhattan teen’s Tuesday hit and run incident and said the total damage is more than $1,000.

On Tuesday, officers arrested Dylan Babcock, 18, 617 Bertrand St., for various charges including DUI and aggravated battery after Babcock allegedly drove drunk through the areas of Kimball and N. Manhattan avenues, causing damage to two other vehicles and various pieces of property. 

Lt. Josh Kyle said that Babcock allegedly hit a telephone box at 1916 Bluehills, damaged a lawn at 1201 Keen St., and hit a mailbox and tree at 1900 Bluestem Terrace.

He said Babcock continued on to damage the property of 1905 Bluestem Terrace, a lawn and cable box at 1927 Bluestem Terrace, the lawn and driveway of 1929 Bluestem Terrace, and rock landscaping at 1931 Bluestem Terrace, where Babcock’s vehicle became high-centered and he was apprehended.
