CHAPMAN – A Fort Riley soldier was injured Saturday night when he was thrown from his motorcycle after being rear-ended on Interstate 70.

James D. Wilson, Jr., 49, was taken to Salina Regional Hospital with unspecified injuries after the incident, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The KHP reported that Wilson’s eastbound motorcycle was struck from behind by a 2001 Toyota, driven by Jess Lemon, 22, of Hays.

Lemon was not injured in the accident, which occurred about four miles east of Chapman around 9 p.m.

The report noted that Wilson was not wearing a safety helmet at the time of collision.
