Both MHS cross country teams took second place at the Emporia Invitational Saturday.
On the girls’ side, Alaina Schroeder (14:51.01) took first place individually. Christina Wankum (15:27.49) took third, while Megan Ochoa (16:17.92) finished in the top 20 at 15th.
Chris Melgares (16:37.28) and James Leblow (16:48.42) took first and second in the boys race, with Isaiah Koppes (17:28.16) and Isaac Blankenau (17:40.32) finishing in the top 20 at 12th and 17th, respectively.
St. Thomas Aquinas took the top team honors in the girl’s race, finishing with 40 points, 30 points ahead of Manhattan.
Maize won the boys race with a 53, with Manhattan right behind at 61. The boy’s team was not at full strength because of illness and ACT testing.
